LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES:

Get Involved Collier! – The Leadership Collier Foundation Alumni Association is hosting a Volunteer Expo at 5:30-7:30 p.m. on September 30, 2015 at the Naples Hilton.  The Expo is a way to learn more about opportunities to volunteer in our community. The purpose is to connect organizations and agencies who have a need with an opportunity to plug into and engage with leaders looking to get more involved.  At the event, fifty local non-profit organizations within Collier County who have volunteer needs will have exhibitor tables. Guests are invited to network with representatives and volunteers from these charities about their needs, learn more about their mission and see what might be a good fit for your invaluable time investment. The Expo will include organizations from various fields, including healthcare, children’s needs, education, animals, homelessness or the arts.

Growing Associates in Naples – GAIN – will begin accepting applications for its Class of 2016 in October. Growing Associates in Naples™ (GAIN™) is a program specifically designed for emerging leaders and professionals in Collier County of ages 21-40. Participants will learn about Collier County history, local government, election structures, Collier County’s charitable foundations and other resources so that graduates can become involved and be an effective contributor in the community. This program runs from February through March and includes eight, two-hour sessions focused on professional development and peer networking. Leadership Collier – Leadership Collier™ was formed by The Chamber in 1988 to develop a network of informed citizens prepared to assume leadership roles in our community. The Chamber believes knowledge is a key element and prime motivator of leadership. Consequently, the primary objective of Leadership Collier is to educate local business leaders about the societal and economic challenges facing the community today. This program runs from September through March and includes 10 full-day sessions. Applications become available in January.  For more information, click here.

STATEWIDE OPPORTUNITIES:

The Florida Bar is accepting applications through November 6, 2015 for three appointments to be filled in December: (1) one attorney to serve a 3 year term on the Florida Rural Legal Services Board of Directors; (2) six attorneys (one at-large and one from each state appellate district) to serve 2 year terms on the Florida Realtor-Attorney Joint Committee; and (3) one delegate to represent the Northern District of Florida for a 4 year term on the Eleventh Circuit Judicial Conference. The Florida Bar’s Wm. Reese Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy will be accepting applications for the 2016-2017 class of academy fellows from December 1, 2015 through January 15, 2016. This six-session training program is designed to assist lawyers in becoming better leaders within our profession. Information about the Leadership Academy is available here.

The Florida Bar is seeking applicants for its Board of Directors of the Florida Bar Foundation. Applications are due December 11, 2015. The application is available here.

AWARD NOMINATIONS:

The Florida Supreme Court and the Florida Bar are accepting nominations for the 2016 Pro Bono Service Awards through November 12, 2015.
